Every opportunity to obey God’s Word and His instructions is an invitation to adventure
Adventure is always exciting. It’s like a magnet that pulls young men, drawing us toward the unknown and unseen. When people ask, “Why did you sled down that steep hill?” we really don’t have a logical answer. “I couldn’t help it. The hill was there. It was fun.” When adventure calls, we answer.
For guys, adventures abound. Exciting activities like shooting bows, creating a movie, or climbing a mountain are all good, wholesome fun, but these are temporary. God intends your entire life to be a spiritual adventure with Him. The kind that makes your palms sweaty, makes your heart race, and makes you shout out in excitement and fear all at once. If your relationship with God doesn’t excite you in the same way, it might be because you lack spiritual adventure. In fact, if you’re bored in your Christian walk God has the cure—adventure!
Following Jesus Christ is far from boring, except when you play it safe. Mark 8:35 says, “For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.”
Young men who try to minimize the spiritual adventure God calls them on and to reduce the risks of following His path slowly shrivel and dry up from the inside out. Those who throw themselves into God’s plan and follow Him become exceptional men and the leaders God intends them to become.
God calls every Christian into a lifetime of adventure with Him. To be fully alive you must embrace the adventure God calls you on.
God made you for adventure. A ship may be safe at port, but it is not intended to stay in the harbor. A ship is made to explore the wide expanse of the seas, and so are you. You were created to relate with God. He is calling you into the wild. To adventure with God is to really live. Adventure is calling. Life is calling. Answer Him!
